• 1974 – Joined Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T)
• 1995–Appointed as Wholetime Director on the Board of Larsen & Toubro Limited and later designated as Chief Financial Officer of the Group.
• Was a Member on the Board of several Subsidiary & Associate Companies of the L&T Group
• 6thSeptember 2011 - Appointed Chairman & Managing Director of L&T Finance Holdings
• 31s May 2017 – Retired as Chairman from the Board of L&T Finance Holdings and its subsidiaries

During a long tenure of over 43 years with L&T Group

• Made significant contribution in areas of Finance & Accounts, Risk Management, Human Resources, Shared Services and several businesses of the Group such as Information Technology, etc.Was deeply involved in the demerger of the Cement Business of the Group.
• Was responsible for the Developmental Projects business of the Group. This business owned several projects in the infrastructure space viz. roads, ports, transmission lines, metro rail, etc.
• Was also Non-Executive Chairman of L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited
• Instrumental in setting up the Financial Service Business of the Group in 1994 which has today blossomed into one of the large NBFCs in the country. The Financial Services business has a presence in Lending, Asset Management and Wealth.
• L&T Finance Holdings was listed in the year 2011 and now has a portfolio of Lending of over Rs.86,000 crores, Assets Under Management of over Rs.70,000 crores and Assets Under Service of over Rs.18,000 crores.

Professional Affiliations

• 2008 - Was a Member on the Advisory Committee for Liquidity Management set up by the Finance Ministry
• 2009 – Was a Member of the Takeover Regulations Advisory Committee which had been constituted by SEBI to examine the existing regulations and suggest amendments
• 2015 – Wasa member of the Committee set up by the Department of Corporate Affairs for revamping Company Law, 2013.
• Was a member of CII’s National Council for several years.

After proper scrutiny done by the L & T team Mr.Deosthalee sir has given whole hearted support for Creative Group's hospital project. Creative group has received his guidance to make shree mahaganpati hospital sustainable, this has resulted in reaching out to needy and providing timely treatment.

Mr.Deosthalee sir and Dr.Kamat (Healthcare Head L&T) have taken initiative to start dialysis services at Shree Mahaganpati Hospital through L&T public charitable trust. This has proven a great help to CKD patients from Titwala, Kasara to murbad area.
